ROBERT M. SILVA, ESQ ., the senior member and founder of the firm, has practiced law for over 35 years. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on June 29, 1941, Silva graduated from East Providence High School in June 1959. Thereafter, he attended and graduated from Providence College in June of 1963 (Cum Laude) with an AB degree in political science. In 1966 Silva graduated from Boston College with an LLB degree, was admitted to the Rhode Island Bar and became a member and partner in the firm of Moore, Virgadamo, Boyle & Lynch, Ltd., Newport, Rhode Island for ten years (1966-1976). In June 1969 Silva was elected to the Middletown Town Council, serving as President for seven years of his 15 on the Council. Throughout his legal career and time of public service, Silva remained active in numerous organizations, serving as legal counsel to the Rhode Island State Water Resources Board (1969-1985), legal counsel to the East Providence School Department since 1993, as well as legal counsel to the Rhode Island State Lottery Commission since 1994. Silva also serves as: Chairman of the Middletown Economic Advisory Committee, advocate to the Middletown Knights of Columbus; member of the Newport Hospital Corporation; President of the Portuguese Cultural Foundation; member of the Middletown Historical Society; an incorporator of the Bank of Newport; legal counsel and member of the Board of Governors of Wanumetonomy Golf & Country Club, Inc.; legal counsel to the Newport County YMCA; as well as various committees at Salve Regina University. Silva is a former member of 143rd Air Commando Group in Warwick, Rhode Island, and has served as a commissioned officer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corp, United States Naval Reserve. Silva is a member of the Newport County & Rhode Island Bar Associations.
